Flanges are used to connect and reinforce sections of piping systems. Flanges typically consist of two faces that are bolted, welded or screwed together.  

Flanges also provide convenient access when the piping system needs to be disassembled for the purpose of cleaning, inspecting, or modifying the system. A gasket may be utilized to produce a tight seal between the two flanges.
